BMX stands for bicycle motto cross. They were originally used for short track racing. They are still very popular all the world over due to their simplicity and durability. They come in different types, such as the freestyle BMX bikes. These are designed for doing complicated maneuvers on land or in the air. The jumping bikes are another type of the BMX bikes. These are designed more for the purpose of being launched off ramps by professional riders. These are also known as trail bikes.
BMX bikes are known for their strength in maneuvering through various places that other bikes cannot. They can maneuver on obstacles that are manmade and are not designed for bicycles in the streets. They can go through staircases, handrails, ledges, banks and curved walls. They can also be used by parks such as skateboards made from wood. On verts (a half pipe set facing each other), these cycles are known to perform much better than any other type.
BMX bikes can also be used in trails. These are lines of jumps built from dirt (heavily compacted mud). They come in 4-pack, 6-pack and 8-pack. These trails are also known as dirt jumping. The other common are those used on flatland. These are specially made for those who do not want to adventure. They are different from the rest in that, the terrain used is normally smooth.
When purchasing these cycles. It is wise to consider the type of terrain to be use on. This is because the different bikes come with special features specifically designed for a particular type of terrain. The rider should avoid buying spare parts later on when some of the parts start breaking up, instead, they should have their cycles fitted with the specific parts that they might need.
